      The induced current 7 or the pulsating direct current 14 is added via connecti1 and is measured by the amp amme2. The rectifier 15 (not shown) produces pulsating Direct Current which is smoothed and supplied as the DC out through wire 21 to the battery char which provides the input for the power source 9.   Of which there are two each being capable of supplying the exciting current for all the machinery that will be contained in the present buildings. The dynamos were made by Johnson and Phillips and are 60 kilowatt sets. And run at volts. The engines are high-speed compound Alley and McLellan enclosed type engines of 76 horse power.

The motor on the left is a one hoarse power motor which turns at 3, rpm when powered with VAC and the motor to the right is an induction motor that runs normally at rpm. For testing purposes, I wanted to use the motor on the left to spin the motor on the right at the correct speed so but I could test the conversion of the induction.

Thus, a one kilowatt plant permits the use of any one of these lamp circuit devices at a time, with a few lights in addition. Power. Electric power is to be had through motors.

Our elevator brought us up stairs at the speed of feet per minute. It requires one horse-power to raise pounds feet in a minute. The ammeter in the engine room showed that 7 amperes of electricity were sent through the motor of the elevator to bring us up. That is, seven amperes at volt pressure give one horse-power.

If someone were to replace the permanent magnet DC motor in a Pedal Generator (such as the one on this page) with a 1/4 to 1/2 horsepower v AC induction motor and pedal that it would result in an amazing thing. "Small scale hydro (micro-hydro) is the cheapest way to power an RE home. The price per watt-hour is far cheaper than photovoltaics (PV) and even less than wind. Streams run twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and often 52 weeks per year.

When running at its maximum speed, and with a proper capacity in the armature circuit, two and a one-half horse-power can be performed. The large diameter (30 inches), of course, has the advantage of affording better facility for radiation; but, on the ether hand, it is impossible to work with a very small clearance.
